Abstract
Repair and rehabilitation of our rapidly deteriorating infrastructure is of significant concern in most countries of the world. Critical efforts are needed to develop sustainable materials and placement technologies that can produce long-lasting repairs. This paper will present data to support the argument that fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) placed by various means is an ideal material for achieving these goals. Results from several series of tests measuring permeability under stress, bulk chloride diffusion, control of rebar corrosion and bond developed with old concrete are presented. In all instances, benefits of fiber reinforcement are demonstrated.
