Getting Started with Gamry Software

During acquisition in the Framework software users will sometimes observe overloads (red or orange data points) indicating that the instrument is in an undesirable state.  When an overload occurs one of 5 indicators will switch on, showing a red or orange box at the bottom of the experiment runner window with a message indicating which overload state has happened.  At the same time the data points will turn red or orange for the overloaded points.  Here is a basic explanation of the different types of overloads:

A Calibration Failure Warning Appears

This is the preferred extension for raw data acquired by Gamry Framework software. The file contains only tab-separated raw text and can be opened in any text editor or spreadsheet program.

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a powerful technique that utilizes a small amplitude, alternating current (AC) signal to probe the impedance characteristics of a cell.

Linear polarization resistance (LPR) is a quick, nondestructive testing technique commonly used in material corrosion studies to gain corrosion rate data.

It is possible to quickly customize the size and style of the font in Gamry Framework. The size adjustment is useful if you are using a low resolution monitor that cannot display the entire setup box if using the standard font defaults.

Gamry Software uses several proprietary file types for acquisition and analysis purposes.  This list will describe what each type is used for and provide the default location for the files in the supported operating systems.
