Abstract

A simple and accurate electrochemical biosensor for effective determination of pseudoephedrine HCl (PSE) in drug samples was developed using core-shell structured strategy. Pt and Mn@Pt nanoparticles were formed on Vulcan XC-72R carbon black using ethylene glycol as a reducing agent in two sequential steps with the aid of microwave irradiation. XRD study revealed that the incorporation of manganese in the core structure of Mn@Pt/C nanocomposite resulted in the positive shift of characteristic Pt planes of Pt/C. Under optimal conditions, Pt/C and Mn@Pt/C nanocomposites displayed excellent chronoamperometric response towards PSE determination in the range of 5
