Abstract

Pyrolysis results for a variety of compounds are presented in this chapter. This include esters such as esters of alcohols that have or do not have a ?-hydrogen, esters with additional functional groups, esters between alcohols with ?-hydrogen and simple monocarboxylic acids, esters of alcohols containing ?-hydrogen with dicarboxylic acids, esters containing ?-hydrogen and additional functional groups, and lipids. It also discusses pyrolysis of lactones, anhydrides, acyl chlorides, amides, imides, hydroxamic acids, hydrazones, nitriles, isocyanides, thioesters, and thioamides. Among the compounds captured in this chapter are simple lactones, lactones containing additional functional groups, ascorbic acid, anhydrides of monocarboxylic and dicarboxylic acids, various amides and imides, nitriles such as benzonitrile, acetamide, etc.
