Abstract

Abstract High velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) coating finds applications in industry because of easiness of operation, local cost, and easy to replace when recoating is required. The power industry and part repairs are the two main sectors, which the coating finds wide applications. Although the {HVOF} coating is known over three decades, research studies into the coating quality and surface finish are still in progress. In this chapter, {HVOF} coating is presented in relation to surface morphology, metallurgy, and mechanical properties. The post-treatment, such as laser controlled melting, toward achieving improved surface finish and coating quality is also included. The model study for laser treatment of the coating is presented and the development in temperature and stress fields is demonstrated. The corrosion response of the coating surface is also included and the findings are discussed in details.
