Security Policy for Gamry Software v4 and v5

The Problem

The introduction of Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP brought increased security measures to the Windows desktop. Governments and many large companies have implemented these measures to make accidental changes to the computer's environment more difficult, and to prevent malicious changes made by worms, trojans, and viruses.

These "security policies" also may interfere with the operation of Gamry software!

Who is affected?

Users of the Gamry Software running Windows 2000 or Windows XP on their computers.

What are the symptoms?

If you do not have permission to write to C:\Program Files you will be unable to

Save an experimental setup in the Gamry Framework

Your required Permissions

The Gamry Instruments software requires access to the C:\Windows folder to write to the file Gamry.INI (Version 4.x) or Gamry5.INI (Version 5.x). It also requires write access to the folder

C:\Program Files\Gamry Instruments\

and its sub-folders for other varied tasks.
